Agatised Gastropod

Approximatly 50mm, however, we do also have larger and smaller specimens of these. Please email us if you wish to purchase a different size.

These beautiful agatised shells come from Ken River, Central India, on the Deccan Plateau, on the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. They are of the species Platyphysa Princepi, and formed 65 million years ago.
It is now rare to find these shells totally intact. They are generally found in a disjointed fashion.
We were fortunate enough to buy these on a recent trip to India. Because we were buying near the source we got them at a very reasonable price. They are selling for more than twice this price elsewhere.
